All You Want To Know About Chocolate Cell Phones

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

When you think of Chocolate Cell Phones, your thoughts are going to stray to Hershey chocolate or Ghirardelli chocolate. You might even think a cell phone made of chocolate might be the work of Lindt chocolate. The truth is that there is a Vermont chocolate maker that sells a milk chocolate cell phone. It is the size of an actual cell phone complete with realistic keypad and a small chocolate antenna, and although you can not make an actual phone call with it, you can eat it and enjoy a real treat.

Chocolate cell phones do not really refer to candy, however. Verizon Chocolate cell phones are actually a third generation device that provides music videos, games, television clips, global positioning navigation and a 1.3 megapixel digital camera. This is all combined with a cell phone. It is been a goal of consumer electronics makers for years to achieve what is called convergence. This means the combining of various devices with widely diverse functions into a single device.

The Chocolate cellular phone has a Bluetooth wireless interface and mobile email. The phone book capacity is 500 names and numbers. The LCD display has a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels. The camera has a built in flash, and 4x digital zoom. The list of accessories includes a wrist strap, headphones, and a carrying case. It seems the list of features crammed into this small device seems endless. There is a calculator, a calendar, and both an alarm and a world clock. One thing missing is a speakerphone which is rather strange since this is a standard feature on most handsets including some manufactured by the same company that makes the Chocolate phone for Verizon.

Verizon has made this model very music friendly. You can download tunes directly to the phone via Verizon’s V Cast Music service, or you can download the tunes directly to your pc and then to the unit via a USB cable. Some reviewers of the Chocolate cell phone have found the controls to be rather confusing and suggest that a careful reading of the manual and a bit of practice is needed to understand just how everything works. Another downside is that the basic package does not include everything that you need to utilize every feature and to do so; you need to buy some accessories separately.

The Chocolate phone actually looks like a small Hershey Chocolate bar and should be popular with younger buyers because of its music and game capabilities. The Chocolate phone was introduced in South Korea in May of 2006, and sold over one million units world wide before its release in the United States in August.

Can Mobile Phones Replace the Digital Camera?

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

The introduction of ever increasing powerful camera lenses on mobile phones are meaning that people are finally leaving there standalone digital cameras at home, in favour of using just their mobile phones. But is the quality there yet? Or do the phones have a little way to go before they can be dubbed a true replacement for the digital camera?

The Sony Ericsson K850i was a breakthrough in terms of camera quality on a mobile phone. It has a 5.1 megapixel camera, equipped with a cybershot lens and flash. This is a flash that is found on digital camera’s and not just an LED flash as found on lesser quality models. In the daytime the Sony Ericsson K850i takes brilliant shots. Without zoom it would be difficult to tell the difference between a picture taken from a digital camera and that of the k850i.

The problems come when you try and zoom in on an image. With the exception of the Samsung g800, no mobile phone has optical zoom and this can really make the quality fall down when trying to capture images that are far away. The optimum range for taking photographs with the Sony Ericsson K850i is about 10 - 15 metres away.

Another area that the Sony Ericsson K850i falls down is in light detection. When taking a photograph in dim and dark conditions, the mobile phone often struggles to use the embedded light filters, meaning photographs are dimmer than they should be. To counter this, make sure you hold the button down for a 5 second period or longer to ensure the sensors have enough time to adjust.

Overall the Sony Ericsson K850i’s camera is not quite there in terms of a replacement device for the traditional digital camera, but if you are after something that you can capture the odd shot of friends, then this phone will definitely suffice in this media crazy world.

Build Your Own Computer Part One

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

Required Tools:

Phillips-head screw driver (+)

Needlenose pliers

Anti-Static wrist strap (or ground yourself to metal)

Large work area

Optional Tools: Electrical tape

Flashlight

Compressed air

Before you begin make sure you have all the tools you need and a clean space to work. Make sure you have all required tools and materials.

Unpack the materials once package at a time and inspect them to make sure they are not broke or defective. Keep all receipts to insure proper returns if needed. Keep all parts inside their anti-static bags and gather all support manuals that came with the materials. Go to a room with plenty of light and if at all possible…no carpet. Carpet attachs static electricity and could cause damage to your parts and void warranties.

If you have an extra PC or notebook computer available I suggest leaving them on to find out any diagrams or manufacturer’s notes online.

STEP 1: THE CASE

After you have receive the case you bought, inspect it for damage. Make sure you have a working power supply and case fans (if applicable). If you did not buy your power supply with the case then you can see how to install it in the next step.

To access the inside of the case simply unscrew the bindings from the back or unlock the side door with your key, this all depends on your computer case. Once inside check and make sure that the drive bays are clear and you can easily access them. Also check the I/O Shield located on the back of the computer.

The I/O Shield is what you will eventually connect the monitor, USB, mouse / keyboard, and networking. You may need to switch this out with the I/O Shield that came with your motherboard if it will not fit properly, but we will discuss this later in the topic.

STEP 2: THE POWER SUPPLY (if already installed skip to step 3)

The power supply is the part that connects your computer to the power outlet in the wall. NEVER take the power supply apart as it will most likely void the warranty. Inspect the power supply to make sure the ends are not missing or broke and the red switch is flipped to 115V (US). You can usually find this switch on the top of the power supply. It may already be flipped up, if it is then continue on without doing this.

You need to install the power supply from inside the computer. Bundle all the cords coming from the right of the power supply to keep them out of the way. Insert the power supply with the 3 prong male power connection facing out (OUTLET CASE). Screw the power supply into place using the philips screw driver. Make it snug, not to tight. Look at the final result and make sure you have all the connetions open and not being blocked by any part of the case.

Looking to have dual video cards…if you MAKE SURE the power supply says “Supports SLI” somewhere in the description.

STEP 3: THE MOTHERBOARD

First find the pegs or screws that come with the motherboard.

Compare the motherboard and the case I/O Shield. If the motherboard does not fit in the supplied I/O Shield then remove it, and put in the I/O Shield that came with your motherboard.

Now locate the screw holes on your motherboard and find the corresponding holes on the motherboard plate (or tray) in the case. Put a standoff (the pegs) in each of these holes on the tray and position the motherboard so that you can see the holes in the top of the standoffs through the screw holes in the motherboard.

The small metal tabs are intended to make contact with the metal parts of the connections on the back of the motherboard and ground them, but you may have to bend these tabs a bit to get the ports all properly mounted, this is where those needlenose pliers may come in handy. If you have trouble lining up the screw holes, double check that you have the standoffs in the proper holes on the tray.

Now fasten a screw through each of the motherboard screw holes into the standoffs underneath. These screws should be snug but not tight, there is no reason to torque down on them, hand tight is fine, otherwise you can damage the motherboard. There, the motherboard is in, now it’s time to plug the other components into it.

Looking to have dual video cards, if so then MAKE SURE the motherboard says “Supports SLI” somewhere in the description.

Golf Swing Improvement

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

“Counterintuitive” is an understatement when the issue is tension/looseness in the golf swing.

We’re trying to hit the ball with a 1-inch-square sweet spot on the clubface. And, that clubface is moving quickly many feet from the ball and then many feet back to the ball. The intuitive response to this challenge is to try to be in control of the club. Control means using muscles which means tension.

However, just the opposite is true. Jim McLean, in his book The Eight-Step Swing, has a sentence that all golfers should burn into their minds:

To gain control of your shots, you must give up control of your swing.

At no point in the full swing should you feel as if you are in control of your club. You should have at best a vague idea where the clubhead is. The clubhead should feel as if it’s a rock on the end of a string. Your entire body, above your waist, should feel utterly loose, relaxed, throughout the entire motion of hitting the ball. Your “grip” should be as soft as it can be and still enable you to start the backswing.

Find some movies of the swings of Bobby Jones and Julius Boros. Here’s how soft their “grips” were. You’ll see them start their backswings by beginning to move their hands, but their clubheads don’t start to move until their hands have moved around six inches.

At address, above your waist, get as relaxed as you can. Maintain this feeling throughout your attempt to hit the ball. Many muscles above your waist will indeed fire, but you shouldn’t feel them do so.

If you can keep your abdominal muscles loose, then your hips will be able to fire ahead of your shoulders. You’ll no longer be bothered by golf’s most frequent fault: coming over the top.

Get out of control!! The wilder your whirl, the faster your clubhead will move, and the more consistent will be the pathway on which your clubhead is whirling. To gain both accuracy and distance, get out of control. Get utterly loose above the waist, out to the tips of your fingers, and let it rip!!

History of Golf in Scotland

Monday, May 12th, 2008

While many countries have a valid claim to an early game that resembles the game of golf, the origins of golf are without a doubt routed in Scotland’s past. The fact is, golf probably derived from other countries and stick and ball type games. However, while these are stick and ball games, they are missing that vital ingredient that is unique to golf. The hole. It was the Scots who introduced the golf hole into the game we now call golf.

Over the centuries, golf has evolved into the game it is today. The first recognizable form being played in Scotland in the early 1400’s. Andrews, Scotland is the birthplace of the game golf. Originating on the east coast of Scotland, golf quickly became the Scots’ national pastime and passion, bound forever to Scotland’s history and people.

According to Scottish lore, the people of Scotland believes that Golf was invented by Scottish fishermen to amuse themselves on the way home from fishing.

In 1457 golf was banned in Scotland because it interfered with the practice of archery, which was vital to the defense effort. The ban on golf had been issued in a time when Scotland was preparing to defend itself from the English. Scotland can say that they are the founding fathers in regards to the oldest golf course. It was in

Scotland that the passion for golf came alive. There is general agreement among historians and golf fans alike that the Scots were the first golfers who became somewhat addicted and passionate about the sport. In the very early days of golf, each golf group in Scotland produced their own and unique rules, which was sometimes the cause for interesting discussions. Golf is still a very popular game today in Scotland today.

The game of golf soon spread to areas outside of Scotland. In one form or another, the variant games of present day golf were clearly enjoyed throughout Europe in the Middle Ages. In fact in seventeenth century Dutch landscapes commonly show golf being played on ice. The game of golf began its destiny in time towards becoming popular around the world.

Aerobic And Cardio Training - How Hard Must You Go For Results

Sunday, May 11th, 2008

The most fundamental key to aerobic activities is getting out of breath. It is essential you examine your exercise to see if it is achieving this. In my experience I have met many people who do hours of swimming but never get even slightly out of breath, or play hours of tennis but say to me they cannot lose weight.

These two examples show how exercise can be misleading. When swimming, your technique may limit you from being able to reach an intensity to achieve the real health benefits of exercise. Tennis, by nature of its design is stop start and very often does not challenge the aerobic system at all. i understand it takes 2 hours to play a match but more often than not the exerciser is spending considerably more time standing around than running.

The above examples are not a criticism of tennis or swimming but rather just making you aware of what really is an aerobic activity and what is not. For your health to be maximized you must reach an intensity that you are breathing more deeply than usual for a prolonged amount of time.

In the gym it is also very common to see people on machines but not reaching the required intensity level. If your body can handle level 10 and you are gong at level 3 it is going to struggle to really make gains in fitness and health. However, do not be mistaken that level 3 is useless. It is still exponentially more beneficial than the person who never does any aerobic training , but more often than not will not get you the results you desire.

To gauge how hard to do exercise you should use the rate of perceived exertion scale (RPE). This is a subjective measure you ask yourself about how hard the exercise feels, from easy to very hard. Once you have learned this you can set the intensity on the machines to equate to this exertion level.

RPE scale:

20 - About to collapse the exercise is so hard, gasping for breath,

15 - Hard effort, could do 3-5 minutes max, breathing deeply.

10 - Comfortable, could do 15 minutes at this level, breathing a more

deeply than usual

5 - Easy, could do 30 minutes at this level, very slightly out of breath

0 - At home watching telly with the feet up.

The aim is to build up to be able to do more exercise at the higher exercise intensities. You should aim to exercise at between 13-16 out of 20.

Please note you DO NOT need to go into the 17 - 20 end of the scale, you are not Olympic athletes just yet, so you do not need to train like them. Regular exercise at 17-18 out of 20 is difficult to maintain long term.

What happens instead is that your perception of what a 15 out of 20 feels like changes so further down the line you are working at a harder effort level but you perceive this as easier than an untrained counter part.

Using this scale allows you to control your exercise intensity and maintain motivation. The key is to find that 15 out of 20 level and then use different training techniques.

For example a 15 out of 20 for a 4 minute sprint may be at speed 13 on the treadmill, but at 15 out of 20 for a 20 minute jog may be at speed 11.5. Using different stimulus for the training will increase your fitness levels and maintain motivation.

Clear Your Hard Drive To Remove Private Search Information

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

While the Internet can be used for many reasons, the most common use that people put it to is to communicate. It is possible now to keep in touch with family, friends and business associates through a number of mediums such as emails, instant messaging and online chatting.

With a credit card and easily obtainable membership to an online shopping website, the Internet can be made use of to shop as well. You can buy just about anything online from household goods to properties. You however have to be vigilant when you use the Internet as there could well be unseen eyes looking at your Internet history files. Every transaction that you carry out in the Internet, even just browsing, is recorded in your hard drive in the Internet history folder or in the temporary Internet files folder.

There is every likelihood that some hackers or identity thieves are already accessing the information contained in your computer. This is not something that you would want to happen would you? Particularly your Internet history if you use it for business transactions? They may well be finding information about your credit cards and other personal information. Since your privacy and security is at stake, this could be very stressful.

There may also be occasions where you are doing something online that you would rather your children, parents, spouse or coworkers not know that you are doing. If you do not clear your browser history regularly, you are vulnerable to someone discovering what you are doing while you surf the web.

Your browser provides tools that can delete your Internet history if you so desire. This however may not be sufficient as the same information may well be stored in your hard drive. If you wish to remove this from the hard drive to prevent private search by other persons, you could get a special hard drive software cleaner program for it. This software will completely erase all information on the searches made by you on the Internet. This means that all traces of all Internet activities including all search history will be erased.

Presently, identity theft is a serious crime that is very much on the increase. Criminals generally procure this information by getting you to install spyware software in your computer. This software being invisible, is highly dangerous. Most do not reveal themselves in your task manager and you will not even know that it has been installed.

With such spyware software installed in your computer, it will access all your Internet transactions and forward it to the thief trying to steal your identity. With your personal information, such thieves can access your emails, your credit card details and often even your online banking records.

It should now be obvious that it is vital that you have a software program that can clean your hard drive and remove private search information. Apart from prevention of access to your Internet history, it will also prevent other personal information going to thieves wishing to steal your identity.

Hit The Ball Away From Your Opponent

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

“Hit the ball away from your opponent into the gaps and not to him unless you mean it as a surprise. You achieve this largely by hitting for the lines. Learn to put the ball where you aim it.” Mr. Harry Hopman (The best tennis Coach of all time!)

This quote at first seems to be over simplistic but, once you start watching match play even at pro level you start to see how meaningful it is!

How often do you see even professional players trade shots cross court to each other just a step or two away from the centre of the court, almost as if they were trying to bust a brick wall? It is indeed an exercise of energy waist as well as plain lack of global vision of the limits of tennis court and for the spectator just a boring event.

Tennis is a sport destined for the ones who can run and I mean run fast! So if you can run never be afraid to use the court limits, lines included. This does not mean that you have to go for winners at every single ball that comes your way. It means that you should move the ball around as much as you can e.g. your opponent and for that you need to develop accuracy and the ability to play all corners of the tennis court whether it is long, deep, short, angled, but always playing the corners and near the lines! This applies for the serve as well as volleys and any other shot.

The cross court shot is the safest “percentage” I understand that, but if you think you are going to win big by just being consistent and keeping the ball in play, think twice all you got to do is watch how Roger Federer dismantles the likes of Hewitt, Roddick, Lubjic and many others.

The only one that was threatening Federer was Nadal, but like every other great champion, Roger figured him out by realizing that Nadal hits a short ball on every first or second shot and now Roger steps inside the court more often and has Nadal on string as well!

I am talking about the pros because they are your idols and I am sure that you are more likely to be glued to your TV screen or on site at the Australia, French, Wimbledon or US Open or any other tennis tournament throughout the year and see what I just said, then at your club watching some clever “dude” play that you think you can beat anyway. But, oh yes, I too do get glued to that TV! And I am an old geezer!

Actually I must confess to you, all my life since my twelve’s, my yearly calendar is ruled by the big 4 and any other tennis event! I know…it is bad…but when you love the game that is how it is! Anyway forget about it, using the whole court is also for the club player, I know this will be a heart breaker for the big bellied boobies, but you better trim up or your “buddy” that just read this article will have you running left and right, back and forth like a puppet on a string! :)))

Ok, now let us refocus and keep this simple, here are 3 ways to boost your courage and get used to play the lines:

- 2 practice partners. Place 4 round markers (low plastic ones that you can step on without danger, they look like UFO discs and come in several colours) at the baseline near the corners 3 feet from the baseline and 1 foot from the sideline. Hold 3 balls in your pockets and so does your practice partner. Decide who will go up the line and who will go cross. Start drilling immediately to the corners and for as many shots without missing as possible until all balls are played. Take a breather and reverse the cross court with the down the line and repeat the drill, do this 4 or 6 times.

- 2 practice partners. Add 4 round markers one foot bellow the service line corners and 1 foot from the side line. Repeat the drill and use the service cones for cross angle shots or short balls up the line. Once the short ball is applied, I advocate trying to come in on this ball by chipping it up the line or drop shot up the line (do not go cross court) and from then on play the point out at the net. Once all 6 balls are exhausted, take a breather and reverse the cross court with the down the line and repeat the drill, do this 4 or 6 times.

- 3 practice partners. One at the net on the T line and 2 at the baseline. Place 4 cones on one side of the court only. 2 round markers 3 feet inside the service line corners and 1 foot from the side line and 2 round markers at each side of the at the baseline near the corners no 3 feet from the baseline and 1 foot from the sideline. The baseliners do not hit winners they will move the volleyer around the net side to side and when he cloese in too much give him the occassional lob. The volleyer tries to mix deep well placed (to the target zones) volleys with angle volleys and drop volleys as appropriate.

This article is for you and in honour of Mr. Harry Hopman which was indeed the very best clear headed Coach one could meet.

Tips When Doing A Memory Upgrade

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

A slow running computer can be a huge pain when you are trying to get a job done. The software runs slow, the load times are unbearably long and forget about playing any computers video games.

If this is happening to you and you want your computer to operate at a faster speed, then you need a memory upgrade to make your computer zip along at lightening fast speeds. You will be able to run several applications at once, listen to your MP3 players music and get to play those computer games you just cannot live without!

Upgrading your computer’s memory is a great way to run programs faster and speed up the overall use of your computer. A memory upgrade is relatively inexpensive and real easy to install. The hardest part is finding out what kind of memory you need and selecting the right type of storage for the speed you wish. There are four types of memory which are: RDRAM, DDR2 SDRAM, DDR SDRAM, and SDR SDRAM.

Step number two is to go to a discount computer hardware store to purchase your new storage card. You want to upgrade to the highest capacity you can afford. Remember that more storage means more speed and efficiency for your pc. You do not want to have to purchase a new card every few months. Go ahead and splurge a little. This is the cheapest way to improve your computer’s speed.

Most computers allow you to use generic memory cards. Once you have your new memory card it is then time to open that baby up. Remove the cover to your pc. If you have an available slot, then all you have to do is plug in the new desktop storage card you purchased. If there are no open slots left, then you will need to remove the old one and replace it with the generic one card or a pc specific storage card.

So now you see how easy a memory upgrade can actually be. Before you consider getting rid of your computer for a faster model, do an upgrade and you will see a noticeable difference in how fast your processing speed is. It is a simple plug in and go swap of the old storage module and the new version. Just make sure to get as much storage as you can possibly afford so you do not have to replace the memory again any time soon.

Enrich your knowledge further about the memory upgrade from Mike Selvon portal. We appreciate your feedback at our discount computer memory blog where a free gift awaits you.
